"Tessa is seventeen and passionate about life. Diagnosed with a terminal illness, she determines to use every moment, compiling a catalogue of what a normal teenager would experience, including losing her virginity and taking drugs. With the help of her friend Zoey, she sets the list in motion. While her family deals with fear and grief, each in their own way, Tessa explores a whole new world. Falling in love with Adam, her new neighbour wasn't on the list, but it proves to the the most exhilarating experience of them all."
Now is Good is an incredibly powerful and emotional film. Dakota Fanning is incredible as Tessa and certainly proves her credibility and ability as an actress. It is an emotional roller coaster of a film and even though you know that this is never going to be a happy ending, there are lots of moments that make you smile as well as cry.
When Tessa is told the devastating news that her Leukaemia is terminal; rather than giving up on life, she shows a brave and fierce determination to live her final days to the full. Tessa is a really believable character and you can only admire her passion for life and her desire to experience so much before the end. She is asked "What are you doing?" and she answers "As much as I can, as fast as I can." and this really does sum up the whole film.
Now is Good is one of those films that stays with you and makes you appreciate your own life.. It is very well written and the characters are all believable. Now is Good is available to buy from Amazon and I would definitely recommend it, however you need to have a large box of tissues close by throughout the film.
I was sent a copy of Now is Good for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.

ReplyDeletesounds like a good movie. Both my 10 year old daughter and I are fans of Dakota Fanning. Might be worth adding it to my collection (looks like my daughter will have to wait for a couple of years before watching this one!!!!)..I'm a bit of a movie fanatic...I have hundreds of DVDs!
